Hi friends!

I missed you last week, but look where I was:

That water was clear and clean and bluer than any photo could capture because it’s glacier water, and man alive Whistler is beautiful. Oh and, that photo was taken by our magical adventure guide whose name was Chris, because of course it was.

Anyway, back to Hope Lab tonight! Tonight is going to be open forum style - meaning you can bring a question, a conundrum, something you’ve been interested in, you get the point.

We’ll start the way we usually do, with some time to write and reflect, and then we’ll open up the floor and see where the conversation takes us.

A few important caveats, because I want this to feel useful and comfortable for everyone:

  • Hope Lab is not therapy. This isn’t the space to process something deeply personal or acute, and neither I nor the group will be functioning as therapists tonight.

  • Think “good question for a room,” not “please solve my life.” Try to frame what you bring in a way that gives the whole group something to chew on. The best questions will probably be ones where other people can recognize a little bit of themselves in them too.

  • Keep your share relatively brief. Give us enough context to understand what you’re asking, but not the entire director’s cut. We want to make room for as many people as possible.

  • You absolutely do not have to bring anything. You are more than welcome to come, write, listen, and jump into the conversation when you feel like it.

I’m imagining questions like:

  • How do you know when you’re resisting something because you’re scared versus because it’s actually not right for you?

  • How do you get yourself moving again when you’ve lost momentum on something you care about?

  • How do you handle realizing you’ve outgrown something you worked really hard to build?

The whole point of Hope Lab has always been to have a place where we can experiment with ideas about hope, resilience, meaning, change, and being a person. Not because any of us has all the answers (I certainly don’t), but because sometimes thinking alongside other people helps us see something we couldn’t see alone.

So. Come at 5pm. Bring your fabulous and curious little brain.

See you soon!
